About me

Stergiani (Stella) Tsoli is a Social Epidemiologist and a Research Officer working on the LIFELONG project in LSE Health. Her research focuses on healthy ageing and the social determinants of health over the life course.

She was previously a Research Fellow at the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Aging at UCL working on frailty in younger people using nationally representative birth cohorts in the UK. During her PhD at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), at UCL she focused on the longitudinal associations of social participation and engagement on biomarkers of physical health and physical activity, using data from the National Child Development Study (NCDS) and the 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70). Stella alongside her PhD worked as a Senior Health Analyst at the UK ‘s Health Security Agency (UKHSA), Department of Health and Social Care. During her PhD, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Lab of Professor Ichiro Kawachi at Harvard University. 

Before her PhD, she held positions in the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the World Health Organisation in Geneva and the Doctors of the World.

Stella holds a MPhil in Public Health from University of Cambridge and a BSc in Environmental Science from the University of the Aegean, Greece. She has received awards from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRC) and Medical Research Council (MRC) for her studies.
