Noelia Bernal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the Universidad del Pacífico (UP). She holds a Ph.D. in Economics, as well as a Master’s in Economics and Financing of Aging, both from Tilburg University, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Dr. Bernal is a recognized expert in evaluating the impact of public policies on the health and well-being of vulnerable populations. Her research includes studying the effects of social health insurance on informal workers, the impact of social pensions on the health outcomes of elderly poor populations, and the influence of childcare programs on maternal mental health. Additionally, she has led pension and savings research projects funded by organizations such as Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Universidad del Pacífico, focusing on the effects of financial incentives and digital savings on the saving behaviors of informal workers and taxi drivers in Peru. Her work has been published in international journals, and she has served as a consultant for the IDB and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
