About me

Dr Nilesh Raut is a Research Officer in LSE Health on a project with Vitality. Previously, he worked as LSE Fellow in the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics. He is a recipient of BA Leverhulme Small Research Grant (2024) and LSE Phelan United States Centre’s Summer Research Grant (2021). Nilesh has also conducted research for or acted as a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Global Report on Long-term care financing.

His research examines how health, long-term care insurance, and housing interact. He is mainly focused on how economics can improve health, wellbeing, and care financing of low- and middle-income populations in the US and elsewhere. Additionally, he is interested in investigating impact of early life activities, such as physical exercise and nutrition, on healthy aging and on intergenerational transmission of healthy behaviours. His PhD dissertation was focused on ageing and its impact on demand and supply of caregiving and on financing of care.

Nilesh holds PhD in Health Economics and Policy from the London School of Economics. He had received a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from Dr. B.A. Technological University, India. He has worked for SIEMENS as a Design Executive Engineer and with the State of New York as a Project Manager for IT data Center Migration project with Department of Mental Health, New York, USA. He has two master’s degrees in economics from the US.
