Public engagement, connections, appointments

Professor Nicola Lacey is an Associate of the International Inequalities Institute at LSE. She has held a number of visiting appointments, most recently at Harvard Law School.  She is an Honorary Fellow of New College Oxford and of University College Oxford; a Fellow of the British Academy; and a member of the Board of Trustees of the British Museum. Dr Joseph Spooner has participated various law reform projects. He has worked as a technical lead on World Bank policy reform project, and contributed to the Bank’s Report on the Treatment of the Insolvency of Natural Persons (2013). Joe contributed expertise to the UK Insolvency Service Review of the Personal Insolvency Framework, providing research content and leading a stakeholder consultation group. He also worked on the Law Reform Commission of Ireland’s project on personal debt management and debt enforcement (2010-2012), which developed important policy responses to the Global Financial Crisis. Dr Jan Zglinski is Research Fellow of the Oxford Institute of European and Comparative Law. He organised a conference at LSE on empirical legal studies in EU law (1-2 June 2023). He is also co-convenor of the GOLEM seminar series on EU LawProfessor Insa Koch will be giving the 2024 Roger Hood lecture at Oxford ('Re-centering the state: on drug trafficking, modern slavery and decolonial endeavours in austerity Britain'). Dr Nafay Choudhury is  a Research Associate of the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Oxford University. He recently spoke at one of the events marking the 50th anniversary of the Journal of Law and Society at Cardiff in November 2023. In Ocotber 2024, Professor Emily Jackson launched The New Facts of Lifea project to find out how the public feels about the regulation of embryo models, organoids and stem-cell derived sperm and eggs.
