One of LSE Law School’s key strengths lies in financial technology, and the LSE Law, Technology and Society group brings together experts in financial innovation, “regtech” (technologies that aim to disrupt traditional regulatory practices) and “lawtech” (technologies that aim to disrupt traditional legal services). The FinTech, RegTech and LawTech group has a broad and diverse impact on industry and public policy, with members holding key advisory roles for the Law Society of England and Wales, the UK government, the European Commission, the European Securities Markets Authority and the Law Commission. Our members have established interdisciplinary links within LSE and more broadly, and are currently working on high profile research projects with academic and industry partners that include the Bank of England and UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies.
The FinTech, RegTech and LawTech group provides speakers, panellists and expert members to institutes around the globe, including the Netherlands Institute for Law and Governance, the Max Planck Institute and the Royal Institution, and have delivered educational talks for civil servants, solicitors, barristers and judges. Our members have hosted several lectures, conferences and workshops, for both expert and lay audiences, and have published widely on the subjects of financial and regulatory innovation.
