Dr Alperen Gözlügöl was recently quoted in a Wall Street Journal article about the impact of California's new legislation that forces businesses to report on carbon emissions.
The legislation could also subject private companies to the new reputational and stakeholder pressures, said Alperen Gözlügöl, an assistant professor at the law school of the London School of Economics who has called for private companies to disclose their emissions.
“You [currently] have this dark part of the economy where there is no transparency and therefore there is no transparency-related discipline,” Gözlügöl said. “Disclosure makes it easier for these stakeholders to put pressure on companies.”
