Join the LSE Legal Advice Clinic: Volunteer Opportunities for January 2025
We are excited to announce the launch of LSE Legal Advice Clinic in January 2025.
Our new clinic aims to improve access to justice by providing free, confidential legal advice to members of the public on a range of issues including employment and family law.
We are now seeking dedicated student volunteers to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your employability while providing invaluable support to those in need of legal advice.
Roles Available
1. Student Advisors
Responsibilities: As a Student Advisor, you will interview clients to understand their legal issues, conduct thorough legal research, and prepare detailed letters of advice.
Eligibility: This role is open to 2nd and 3rd year undergraduates and LLM students.
Commitment Required: 5 hours per week during the winter term.
Training: You will receive comprehensive training in professionalism and ethics, client interviewing, practical legal research, and letter writing. Additionally, there will be masterclasses focusing on employment and family law to equip you with specialised knowledge in these areas.
Compulsory Training Dates for Student Advisors:
Monday, 20 January 2025, from 6 to 8pm
AND choose one of the following sessions:
Wednesday, 22 January 2025, from 1 to 5pm
Thursday, 23 January 2025, from 2 to 6pm
2. Legal Advice Clinic Volunteers
Responsibilities: As a Clinic Volunteer, you will conduct triage phone calls with prospective clients.
Eligibility: Open to all law students, including first-year undergraduates.
Training: Compulsory 2-hour training session on Wednesday, 11 December, from 3 to 5pm
