First steps - audience
Know who your audience is.
- Who is your website for?
- What do they need from it?
- How can you make sure they get what they need?
For instance, the audience for the Student Services Centre is current students.
If you have a wide audience, think about which sections of your audience are most important. Focus your efforts on them. For instance, although the LSE corporate website could be used by a wide range of people, the audiences it focuses on are prospective students; researchers and professionals; and members of the media. (Internal content is focused on current students, staff and alumni.)
Until you know who your audience is, you can't create a website that is aimed at them and their needs.
