Following the agreement of interim Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) between the European Union and some African Caribbean and Pacific states in December 2007 there is now a debate on the nature of the comprehensive EPAs that should follow. This paper is a contribution to a better understanding of the issues involved in the inclusion of government purchasing in any future EPAs.

European Union Trade Policy: International Trade Policy Unit work for the European Parliament

The ITPU is coordinating a consortium of research centres to fulfil a framework contract for the Policy Department of the External Affairs of the European Union Directorate of the European Parliament. This research supports the work of the European Parliament's International Trade Committee (INTA). The LSE-led consortium includes: the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) (Brussels), Maastricht University (Maastricht), the Deutsches Institut fuer Wirtschaftsforschung (Koeln), Trinity College (Dublin), the Overseas Development Institute (London) and the University of Parma (Parma).
