The Global School of Sustainability at LSE (GSoS) is pleased to announce the appointment of distinguished Indian investor and policymaker Jayant Sinha as Visiting Professor in Practice at both GSoS and the Grantham Research Institute.
Jayant Sinha has chaired the Finance Committee in the Indian Parliament (2019-2024) and served as Minister of State for Finance and Civil Aviation (2014-2019). His efforts include helping formulate India’s bankruptcy code, establishing India's National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, launching the UDAN and DigiYatra schemes, and helping privatise Air India. Sinha has also led many climate policy initiatives, introducing India's first net zero bill in Parliament.
As a venture capitalist, Sinha has three unicorns to his credit and is widely recognised as one of the key shapers of India's startup ecosystem. Previously, he held leadership roles at Omidyar Network, Courage Capital, and McKinsey & Company. Sinha holds degrees from IIT Delhi, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard Business School. Sinha serves as an advisor to Global South climate investment funds and is an active angel investor in green technologies. His areas of research interest include climate finance, public finance and budgeting, and sustainable development.
