Social science-led transformation for a sustainable world

The Global School of Sustainability is one of LSE's most significant developments since its founding in 1895. It will change LSE. We will be known as the place to go to research and study sustainability and, in turn, we will change the world for the better.

Professor Susana Mourato, Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research), LSE

Launched in 2025, the Global School of Sustainability at LSE (GSoS) is advancing global efforts to shape a brighter future for all that is sustainable, resilient, hopeful, prosperous and inclusive.

About the Global School of Sustainability

GSoS brings together the wealth of social science expertise at LSE concerned with the critical questions for a sustainable future. As a centre of expertise, GSoS is informing policy that can help to rapidly and equitably create the economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protections crucial to ensuring a sustainable future; convening global experts; and training the future generation of leaders.

GSoS builds on and complements the pathbreaking work of the Grantham Research Institute for Climate Change and the Environment and existing outstanding research being undertaken by academic departments and researchers across LSE. GSoS is informed by insights from its strategy board comprising global leaders in the sphere committed to the School’s vision and ambitions in creating a sustainable future.
