Dahrendorf Scholarship Reception
The Department of Finance and Deutsche Bank are pleased to congratulate the 2009/10 Lord Dahrendorf Scholarship holders, who were guests of honour at a reception held at LSE's New Academic Building on Thursday 12 November 2009.
Head of Department, Professor David Webb, highlighted the diversity of the scholars, all of whom had met LSE's stringent academic selection criteria and were subsequently selected on the basis of financial need. The Programme aims to support students from developing countries, particularly those from countries with emerging markets.
With the Dahrendorf Scholarship programme now entering its second year, Professor Webb commented on the success of the scheme's first cohort, which included Vladimir Mukharlyamov - the Department's highest-scoring student - who is now studying for a PhD at Harvard. Also in attendance was LSE Director, Howard Davis, who thanked Deutsche Bank for their continued support of the Dahrendorf Scholarship scheme and congratulated the scholars on their awards.
Representing Deutsche Bank, Stuart Lewis (Chief Credit Officer) and Beat Lauper (Head of Learning & Development) announced that a new agreement had been signed to continue the Dahrendorf Scholarships for at least a further three years and invited each scholar to talk with their personal Deutsche Bank mentor over the coming year.
