Explore funding opportunities at the European Institute
There are several sources of financial support at LSE, in the form of bursaries and scholarships to UK and overseas students. Students may also be able to access scholarships and financial support from governments and agencies around the world.
Listed below are the European Institute scholarships which are reserved for applicants to our programmes.

The Graduate Financial Support application is now open for application for funding in the 2026/27 academic session. Completing and submitting the application forms allows LSE to consider you for financial support from the Graduate Support Scheme and any other LSE Scholarships that you fit the criteria for. The closing date for applications is 5pm (GMT) Thursday 23 April 2026, you must also have secured an offer of admission on an eligible programme by that time.
European Institute Scholarships
Five scholarships, generously funded by the AKO Foundation, which are available to cover the costs of the tuition fees and provide a maintenance stipend.
Scholars will receive €14,000 for the first year at Bocconi, and £20,000 for the second year at LSE.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a combination of exceptional academic merit and financial need.
All offer holders will be contacted at the end of June and invited to complete the Graduate Financial Support Dual Degree application form, which will be used to assess their financial need. Decisions will be made by the Financial Awards Panel.
How to apply
All applicants who would like to be considered for any of the EI scholarship schemes must submit a complete application to the relevant programme before they apply for the scheme.
All scholarship applicants will be given a decision from May-July 2026.
Submit a complete programme application to the relevant European Institute programme via the LSE Online Application System before you apply for the scholarship. A complete application means that all relevant documents have been uploaded and both references have been received.
Once you have submitted your programme application you will receive an email from Graduate Admissions with details of how to access the Graduate Application Portal (GAP). This email will be sent within 10 working days after Admissions receives both of your references.
Complete the Graduate Financial Support (GFS) online application via the link on the Graduate Application Portal. This one application will collect information about your finances which will help the selection panel understand your level of financial need. You must complete the GFS online application by 5pm (GMT) Thursday 23 April 2026 in order to be considered for an European Institute scholarship.

The information you provide in your programme application will be used in the scholarship selection process. You should review the qualities outlined in the 'applicants must demonstrate' section of the scholarship you wish to be considered for and tailor your personal statement accordingly.
You should allow plenty of time for your referees to respond to their reference requests as your application will not be considered complete without it. We will not be able to consider for any of the scholarships listed on this page if your referees do not respond by the time you submit your scholarship application.
