Andrea is a PhD candidate at the European Institute.
His research is centred on the role of legislatures in trade and investment policy in the European Union and the United States. In particular, Andrea’s work comparatively investigates the drivers and impact of the ability of the European Parliament and the US Congress to shape the EU and US commercial policy, respectively. His broader research interests include the politics of the European Union – their institutional dimension in particular–, executive–legislative relations, the comparative study of the historical emergence and contemporary decline of Social Democratic parties in Europe.
Andrea holds an MPhil in Politics (European Politics and Society) from the University of Oxford (Balliol College) and a BA in International Relations and History from King’s College London. Prior to joining the European Institute, he was also a Schuman Trainee at the European Parliament. Andrea’s research is funded by an ESRC studentship.
