Nilüfer is a PhD candidate at the LSE’s European Institute.
Her research studies the agency of emerging powers, exploring the concept of middle powers through the lens of the Global International Relations (IR) agenda. Specifically, she examines how reformist middle powers, like Turkey, seek to resist and reshape the Western liberal order in response to their marginalization from dominant power structures. Her research focuses on Turkish foreign policy analysing its middle power agency in peace-building mediation, international aid provision and regional activism.
Nilüfer holds a research Master’s in International Relations with Distinction from the London School of Economics and a Master’s in International Political Economy from King’s College London. She has previously completed her BA (Hons) in Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick.
At LSE’s International Relations department, Nilüfer teaches seminars for IR315: International Relations of the Middle East.
Nilüfer’s doctoral studies are funded by an LSE Studentship.
