Carl-Ludwig is the Manager of the European Institute, with responsibility for strategic planning and development, and allocation and management of departmental resources. As part of the EI Leadership team, they work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of the Institute.
Within the professional services team, Ludwig has managerial oversight for the EI's Reserach, EDI and Faculty Affairs Team. They also manage the Deputy Institute Manager (Programmes Delivery and Student Affairs), and the Events and External Affairs Manager, working closely with both on their own remits.
Ludwig has been working in higher education for more than 20 years, first joining the LSE in 2008. They spent six years as operations manager in LSE’s Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO), overseeing the development and implementation of a new ‘paper-light’ undergraduate admissions system for the School. After this role - and prior to joining the European Institute - Ludwig took a break from Higher Education to work at City Hall, managing the Mayor of London’s Public and Community Engagement Unit.
Ludwig's free-time interests are music, cinema, football (1. FC Köln and Chelsea FC), and distance running - competing each year in a number of competitive runs, including the Berlin Half Marathon. Ludwig is also the Chair of Spectrum, LSE's LGBTQ+ staff network.
