Supporting The EI 2021

Every financial gift, no matter the size, helps us do amazing things at the European Institute.

As a member of our alumni and supporter community, we hope you share our conviction that the work of the academics and staff in the European Institute is more important today than ever. This year, with the impact of a global pandemic, our efforts to support our students as they prepare to navigate a complex and changing world has only been increased.

The EI has truly felt like my home away from home and has made my time so far at the LSE during COVID-19 a pleasurable experience... I cannot stop talking about my IMPP family to my family and friends. From the staff to the events at the EI, it has confirmed my reasons for applying and attending the LSE during this weird year of our lives to have been the right choice.'

Camila M. Robalino Orrico, current MSc International Migration and Public Policy student

‘Last year, even before the uncertain circumstances of Covid-19 emerged, I was very apprehensive of returning to school...However, despite the crazy circumstances we are all living through, I feel that I made the correct choice in coming to LSE. Besides enjoying my time being back in school, I have felt supported the staff and fellow students in my MSc IMPP programme.'

As well as endeavouring to provide our students with the best possible learning experience, we have also worked hard to ensure they are kept safe and connected. To make this possible, we are directing philanthropic gifts back to our student community in a variety of ways, including:

  • Establishing bursaries to help ensure that financial constraints will not stop our students from enjoying a fantastic educational experience through initiatives such as language classes, Cumberland Lodge visits, or the Brussels Internship fair.
  • Providing for student well-being and development through online social and learning activities, as well as bringing in practitioners for online workshops, in order that the vibrant student engagement programme might continue no matter what pandemic restrictions face us.
  • Virtual alumni-student networking opportunities and regular online games nights.

But to continue doing this, we need your help. Gifts from you, our alumni and supporters, can make a huge difference to the experience of those studying with us today.

During such a challenging year the support, both philanthropic and personal, of our wider community has never been so vital, or so appreciated. It is always a joy to see former students like you remain engaged with our community, whether that is through lending philanthropic support or setting aside time to speak with our current students. We hope you will consider joining other alumni like you and invest in the future of the European Institute by making a gift today, which will make a real difference to our work.
