EI Welcome Week

Monday 21 September - Friday 25 September 2026

LSE's induction week is known as Welcome. During this week you'll learn more about your programme, meet your fellow students, formally enrol as an LSE student and select your courses. Many of these activities are compulsory, so you should plan to arrive in London before Monday 21 September to ensure you can attend everything.

European Institute Welcome Schedule 2026

Some activities listed require registration (marked with a *). We will send you an email with more information and registration links in late August / early September.

Please note that while most academic mentor meetings will take place on Wednesday afternoon, some may take place earlier. Check the schedule to confirm when your meeting will be.

Academic Mentor Meetings

Your Academic Mentor is a key point of contact in your academic department. Their role is to keep an overview of your academic progress and overall wellbeing during your time at the School.

We will email you in the week before Welcome to allocate you an academic mentor. The academic mentor meetings during Welcome will be group meetings for you to meet your mentor and their other mentees. The meetings are an opportunity to discuss your course choices.

The schedule of Academic Mentor Meetings will be posted here in the lead up to Welcome in August/September 2026.

Open Office Session

The Open Office Session offers you the chance to speak directly to course convenors about their courses before course selection opens. The schedule below indicates who will be available and what office they are in. Drop by to say hello to your new course teachers, ask any questions you may have about EU-coded courses, and explore the department.

The details of our Open Office Hour Session will be posted here in the lead up to Welcome in August/September 2026.

Consent.Ed Sessions

Consent.Ed is LSE's mandatory programme on consent, and active bystander intervention.

Consent.Ed ensures all students understand LSE's expectations, policies, support services and reporting options. It's a requirement that all postgraduate students complete the programme, regardless of previous training or experience.

All students must complete both levels of Consent.Ed:

  • Level 1: take the online training before you arrive on campus.
  • Level 2: attend a 90-minute workshop with your department peers.

Attendance and completion of Level 1 and Level 2 will be monitored.

Level 2 forms part of your departmental induction and you will attend alongside your department peers. Your Level 2 session will be added to your Student Hub calendar. Please make sure you have completed the Level 1 training before you attend the Level 2 workshop.

If you miss your allocated Level 2 session, or one has not been added to your induction timetable, you must sign-up for a catch-up session on the Consent.Ed webpage.

Survivor-only training and support

As we recognise the sensitive nature of Consent.Ed, the school will be offering survivor-only workshops, to create a carefully tailored space for discussion. This is an alternative to attending your department session.

Visit the Consent.Ed webpage to book a survivor-only session. You can also find information about LSE's specialist support services and alternative arrangements if you feel unable to participate due to personal experience.

Arrival in London delayed? What to do if you're arriving after Welcome

We strongly recommend that you arrive in London before Welcome, but we recognise that there are sometimes unavoidable delays. If your arrival in London and at LSE will be delayed, please follow the below steps:

  • Email us at ei@lse.ac.uk to inform us of your expected arrival date.
  • When you receive details of your academic mentor, email them to let them know you will arrive late and ask to arrange an online meeting to discuss your course selection.
  • Follow guidance here on late enrolment. You must be fully enrolled to attend classes.
