What is your role at the European Institute, and how does your role relate to the Beyond Eurocentrism programme?
My role intersects with the ‘Beyond Eurocentrism’ programme in several ways:
(1) As Co Chair of the EDIC,
(2) As it relates to my research interests, see in particular my current co-edited book project with Routledge on the History of the International Protection of Minorities (see website here),
(3) As it relates to my knowledge exchange engagement with international organisations & NGOs on issues having to do with minorities and migrants,
(4) As it relates to my teaching in EU458 and EU457 and also my involvement in EU450’s Decolonising the Curriculum workshop.
What do you think about the EI's commitment to going beyond Eurocentrism?
I think this commitment should be fundamental to our declared purpose and role at LSE. I would argue that precisely because we are the European Institute we ought to take the lead in going ‘beyond Eurocentrism’ at the School.
Do you have any highlights from your time at the EI that relate to the focus of the Beyond Eurocentrism programme?
Our past EU458 student produced videos very much fit with this theme. I would like to return to the video assessments from academic year 2023/24 and I am happy to purposefully link the video prompts to the Beyond Eurocentrism project.
What parts of the Beyond Eurocentrism programme do you find the most exciting?
All of it excites me!!!
