Sylvia Yanagisako is Centennial Professor of Anthropology at LSE.  She came to LSE in 2023, after many years of teaching as the Edward Clark Crossett Professor of Humanistic Studies and Professor of Anthropology at Stanford University.  Her research and publications have focused on kinship, gender, and capitalism. Her latest book, Fabricating Transnational Capitalism (Duke University Press, 2019), co-authored with Lisa Rofel, is a collaborative ethnography of Italian-Chinese joint ventures in global fashion.  Previous books include Producing Culture and Capital: Family Firms in Italy (Princeton University Press, 2002),  Unwrapping the Sacred Bundle: the Disciplining of Anthropology (Duke University Press, 2005) co-authored with Dan Segal,  Naturalizing Power: Essays in Feminist Cultural Analysis (Routledge 1995), co-edited with Carol Delaney, Gender and Kinship: Essays Toward a Unified Analysis, (Stanford University Press, 1987), co-edited with Jane F. Collier, and Transforming the Past: Tradition and Kinship among Japanese Americans (Stanford University Press, 1985).
