Below are the welcome events for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in our Department. These events will provide insights into your studies and available support, and offer a chance to connect with fellow students from your programme and across the Department. Welcome Week runs from Monday 23 September to Friday 27 September. Please coordinate your schedule to include both LSE Welcome events and the programme-specific events listed below.

Get LSE Ready (online session): Year 1 Course Choice Information Session and Accounting Academic Mentoring

Mandatory for all new BSc AF students
Join Dr. Saipriya Kamath and Justin Adams as they guide you through course selection and introduce Academic Mentoring.

BSc Accounting Early Arrivals Afternoon Tea

Arriving early or already in London? Join us for an informal early-arrivals tea to meet classmates and support staff. Cannot make it? Plenty of social events await during Welcome Week!

BSc Accounting and Finance: Campus Enrolment

Time: Varied (4.15pm-5pm) | Ground Floor, Marshall Building
All new taught students will be required to undertake a two-stage registration process, Online Pre-Enrolment and in-person Campus Enrolment. Details below are for the in-person Campus Enrolment.

Tuesday 24 September

LSE100 Welcome presentation - BSc Accounting and Finance session

Time: 12pm-1.30pm | LSE LIFE, Workspace 4
In this session, students will also learn about the teams and services at LSE that will support their learning on LSE100 and throughout their studies, including LSE LIFE, the Library and the Digital Skills Lab. This session is optional and if you cannot attend this session, there are others running throughout Welcome Week - see alternative times here.

Wednesday 25 September

Welcome to the Department of Accounting, Student Community and Support on Campus

9.30am-11am | Peacock Theatre
Join Professor Ane Tamayo, Head of Department and Yvonne Guthrie, Department Manager as they welcome you to the Department of Accounting. The second part of the presentation will introduce you to key student services supporting you during your time at LSE. This event is mandatory for new accounting students to attend.

Programme Welcome with Dr Saipriya Kamath and Welcome Reception

11.30am-1.30pm | Wolfson Theatre, Cheng Kin Ku Building
Join Dr. Saipriya Kamath and your support team for essential programme information. Mandatory for all BSc Accounting and Finance students. Meet classmates and ask questions. Lunch reception included (contact Justin Adams for dietary needs). 

The BSc Team Challenge

1.30pm-3.30pm | The Venue, Saw Swee Hock Building
This BSc Accounting and Finance mandatory team-building challenge is a fantastic chance to build connections and support each other, laying the foundation for a collaborative academic environment.

Your Academic Mentor plays a crucial role in guiding you through your educational journey, offering personalised advice and support. This first meeting helps your Academic Mentor to get to know you and for you to ask any questions. Mandatory for all BSc Accounting and Finance students. 3pm-5pm | Location: Varied start points
Join our two-hour treasure hunt to promote teamwork, stay active, and explore the LSE area with classmates. Teams of 6 will start at different points and follow unique routes.

Friday 27 September

Accounting Student's River Thames Boat Tour

5.30pm-7.30pm | Location: Temple Pier
Please note that all space on this event has been allocated. Email Sandra Ma at s.s.ma@lse.ac.uk to be included on the waiting list.
End Welcome Week with the Department's River Thames Boat Tour. Explore London’s landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge, and mingle with Accounting peers. Registered students are invited to pick up their event wristbands from MAR 3.07 during Welcome Week, Monday to Friday, between 11am and 1pm. The wristband must be worn to access the Boat Tour.

Kickstart your career at the SELECT Careers Workshop with Dr. Julia Morley, Amy Fox, and guest Accounting alumni and experts. Get practical advice on job market navigation, application crafting, and interview skills. Enjoy interactive sessions, networking, and provided food and drinks. Mandatory for postgraduate students; contact your Programme Manager if you cannot attend.

Diploma in Accounting and Finance: Course Choice Group Meetings with Dr Pascal Frantz

Time: Varied - see below | MAR 3.20, Marshall Building
Join Dr Pascal Frantz, Diploma Programme Director as he go through course selection for the year ahead as stipulated in the programme regulations.

AC480 Pre-sessional course starts

10am-6pm | CLM.G.02, Clement House
The AC480 Quantitative Methods in Accounting and Finance Pre-sessional course starts today, running from September 26 to October 6. It is available to MSc Accounting and Finance students and MSc Accounting, Organisations and Institutions students with prior knowledge. 10-11am, finished by 1pm | Location: Varied
Join our two-hour treasure hunt to promote teamwork, stay active, and explore the LSE area, competing with fellow research students from other departments.
