The survivalist spirit of the Cuban people who have faced wars, revolution and embargoes is visible in every aspect of urban living: Old Havana is a plethora of collapsed buildings and yet, despite this infrastructural degradation and the resulting housing insecurity, Cubans look after Havana’s crumbling ruins with pride.
