Dr Ben Warner is a British data scientist whose contributions to data-driven decision-making in the UK have been featured in publications such as The Guardian. After earning his PhD in single molecule spintronics from University College London, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in quantum physics at UCL's Centre for Nanotechnology. Transitioning from academic research to applied data science, Warner gained prominence as the architect of the data and marketing strategy for the 2016 Vote Leave campaign. His expertise in predictive modelling was further demonstrated during the 2019 UK general election, where his team's model achieved unprecedented accuracy, coming within one seat of the final results.
As Chief Advisor on Digital and Data to the Prime Minister, Warner established 10DS, the Number Ten Data Science unit, to accelerate AI and data adoption across government departments. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in the UK's COVID-19 response and co-authored the "Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution," helping shape Britain's environmental policy framework. In 2023, Warner co-founded Electric Twin, a company at the intersection of artificial intelligence and behavioural science. The firm specialises in creating science-based synthetic populations using large language models, enabling organisations to simulate and analyse human behaviour patterns. This innovative approach helps businesses and governments make more informed decisions by providing deeper insights into social dynamics and behavioural trends.
