LSE graduate Shaun Ho has been selected for one of the world’s most prestigious graduate fellowships, located at Schwarzman College in Tsinghua University, Beijing.

Shaun is one of 150 scholars selected from a pool of nearly 5,000 applicants worldwide to be part of the Schwarzman Scholars Class of 2025-26, a one-year fully funded master’s programme.

Applicants are selected in recognition of their exceptional academic and personal achievements and work to be a positive force for change.

As part of the programme, Shaun will study for a year at Tsinghua University where the core curriculum will focus on leadership, China and global affairs. In addition, he will be provided with a variety of career development opportunities enabling him to establish a network of professional relationships through internships, mentorship programmes and high-profile speakers.

Having graduated in 2023 with a master’s degree in European and International Public Policy from LSE’s European Institute, Shaun now works at Wallbrook, a due diligence and ESG consultancy firm. He applied to the scheme as he aspires to raise mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world, in particular Europe.

“As a dual Chinese-Portuguese citizen from Macau, I wish to not only share my international experiences with my fellow scholars — I have previously lived in China, the US, France, the UK and Israel — but also learn about the experiences of other scholars, who come from 38 countries worldwide,” he says.

Shaun believes his experiences at LSE have prepared him well for the scholarship. “I will not only contribute my expertise in EU politics and policy to the cohort but also bring with me the research and policy analysis skills that I gained at LSE. I will also be able to connect the wide professional network that I developed at LSE with the network that I will develop with other Schwarzman scholars in Beijing.”

During the scholarship, Shaun looks forward to meeting the other scholars, travelling to different parts of China and gaining a better understanding of the country through first-hand experiences.
