Dr Eleanor A. Power of the Department of Methodology has been granted a Research Leadership Award by The Leverhulme Trust.
The award provides up to £1 million to talented scholars to build a team to tackle a distinct research problem. Dr Power's project, titled 'Reputational poverty traps' and the reproduction of social inequality in South Asia and the world, will be a four-year investigation beginning in autumn 2023.
The Leverhulme Trust provides grants and scholarships for research and education. It operates across all the academic disciplines to support individuals in their research and professional training.
Dr Power said: “I am immensely honoured to receive the Leverhulme Research Leadership Award. It allows me to extend my research on the interplay between reputation, social support, and decision-making, with a particular focus on how these dynamics play out in South Asia. I plan to use a unique combination of ethnographic fieldwork, experimental games, and network modelling. This is more than I could undertake on my own, so this award provides me with the unique opportunity to assemble an interdisciplinary team that can collectively undertake this work. I am eager to begin the project!”
