Professor Andrés Rodríguez-Pose
Professor Andrés Rodríguez-Pose has been awarded the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) European Prize in Regional Science 2018.
In awarding the prize, the ERSA recognised Professor Rodríguez-Pose’s contribution to regional science and his pioneering research in new areas within the discipline, such as the long-term impact of migration, and how regional inequality affects political outcomes.
Professor Rodríguez-Pose of the Department of Geography and Environment said: “I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been awarded the ERSA 2018 Prize. Honoured because the prize is recognition of many years of research trying to understand how and why differences in regional and urban economic trajectories affect the livelihoods and well-being of individuals across the world.
"Humbled because I tread in the footsteps of some of the most eminent regional scientists; it represents a vote of confidence in my work by a scientific community which has been the source of my constantly renewed enthusiasm for regional development matters.”
Professor Rodríguez-Pose will receive the award at ceremony during ERSA congress on Friday 31st August in Cork, Ireland.
