The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the University of Chicago have opened admissions for the world’s first transatlantic programme in global health policy and economics.

The programme, set to start in November 2018, will bring together LSE’s focus on global health and policy with the University of
Chicago Harris School of Public Policy's expertise in health economics and public policy.

The double Master’s programme, which is tailored for high-flying mid-career health professionals, will span two years and be taught 50:50 between Chicago and London in compressed, executive-style modules.

Participants will spend two-three weeks in London in the autumn and two-three weeks in Chicago in the spring each year of the programme covering topics including global health policy, economics of the pharmaceutical sector and leadership, negotiation and advocacy in healthcare.

LSE Health Director Professor Elias Mossialos said: “Our programme allows participants to continue working full-time while pursuing the degree, and to interact with peers from across the globe. Students will transform their international leadership skills through the first transatlantic partnership of two leading global universities.”

Upon completion of the course, participants will be awarded a Master of Science in Health Economics and Policy from LSE and a Master of Arts in Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.

Daniel Diermeier, University of Chicago Provost and former Harris Public Policy Dean, said: “We are excited that Chicago Harris and LSE have partnered on this initiative and very much look forward to working together to train the future policy leaders in this field.”
