Three LSE students have been selected from thousands of applicants to study for a year in China as part of a distinguished master’s programme.
Lukas Schmelter, Junyan Chen and Kwok Wai were awarded Schwarzman Scholarships to study for a master’s degree at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University campus in Beijing, one of China's premier academic institutions.
The 129 Schwarzman Scholars, composed of students from 30 countries and 75 universities, were selected through a rigorous and thorough selection process. Successful applicants demonstrated the ability to evaluate leadership experience and showed potential, intellectual and academic ability.
The Schwarzman Scholarship, now in its second year, was inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship to promote international understanding and peace, and is designed to meet the challenges of the 21st century and beyond.
The Scholarship is fully-funded for all participants, and scholars chosen for the program will live in Beijing for a year of study and cultural immersion, attending lectures, traveling, and developing a better understanding of China. Lukas, Junyan and Kwok follow previous LSE Schwarzman Scholars Shan Quan Chande and Christian Fohrby.
