For the second year running, LSE has come first in a survey of how research from Russell Group institutions influences work in the civil service.
In the Higher Education Impact Index, conducted by Dods, the parliamentary publisher and data platform, LSE came top with an overall score of 90.5 out of a possible 100.
The Higher Education Impact Index combines measurements of the use of Russell Group university’s research by the civil service, and the level of engagement that each higher education institution has with public policy-makers. The School’s position in the table is due to its strong performance in both of these components, with LSE achieving the highest possible score in terms of research.

The EMPP brings a cohort of future leaders of the Civil Service into a classroom with leading LSE faculty and senior Civil Service practitioners to discuss cutting-edge research and its practical application to design the policies of the future."
Dods’ Higher Education Impact Index surveyed 239 civil servants in September 2016, and aims to explore the use of academic research in central government.
