This study was launched in early 2023 as a sub-project of the Academic-Practitioner Collaborations (AcPrac) project. Its main aim is to investigate the funding landscape that drives academic-practitioner collaborations for social change, with a focus on funding collaborative research projects on inequalities. The key objectives are to understand 1) "who" is funding collaborative projects on inequalities; 2) the rationale and the policies funders build their investments on; 3) the types of projects and actors funded in these schemes; 4) funders' main motivations, views and assumptions in funding AcPrac; and 5) awarded projects' experiences in receiving such funds.
The project will contribute to a better understanding of the perspectives of public and private institutional funding bodies that drive academic-practitioner collaborations in the field of research on inequalities and social change. The findings from this project will potentially help us identify recommendations as well as strategic connections with selected funders for the whole of AFSEE community.
