The Tata Social Internship (TSI) (formerly Tata International Social Entrepreneurship Scheme - ISES) is a collaboration between Tata and world leading universities including LSE, the University of Cambridge and Berkeley.
The programme provides students with an exposure to real life in India and its culture through live projects with a focus on development, social enterprise, environment, sustainability or CSR. This internship is for a period of two months and projects are based with a range of Tata companies in India.
LSE students have been participating in the programme since 2010. Dr Ruth Kattumuri is the Academic Supervisor. The India Observatory and LSE Careers co-ordinate this programme.

CNBC TV18, an Indian television channel, produced a two-episode documentary giving an insight into the experiences of the 2015 interns (Episode 1 & Episode 2). Tata has also produced videos detailing the experiences of the 2016 and 2017 interns. All the videos available on YouTube.

Hana also worked on a project related to employability, developing a video of a skill development centre in Mumbai.

Deeptanshu Kotru (BSc Environment and Development, Department of Geography & Environment) explored the role of 'Environment' initiatives by TCSRD on business and local community sustainability from the socio-economic perspective.

Billie Elmqvist Thurén (BSc International Relations, Department of International Relations) worked on a project titled 'Changing livelihood dynamics in local ecosystems - Skill based vocational training vs Agro-based livelihood from a socio-cultural perspective'.
