Sebastian Gazmuri Barker is a Research Officer at the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics, focused on research into tax policy.  

His research interests are in tax systems in developing countries with a focus on its distributional implication and on the taxation of the super-rich. His research covers both indirect taxes (VAT and excises) and direct taxes (personal income taxes, capital gains taxes, wealth taxes, etc.).

Prior to joining LSE, Sebastian worked in corporate law and as a tax advisor. He has also done research in international taxation and double tax treaty networks. 

He is finishing his PhD in the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Law; and he holds an LLM from the LSE, and an LLB from Universidad Catolica de Chile.
