Fabrício Mendes Fialho is a Research Fellow at the LSE III Politics of Inequality research programme. His work lies at the intersection of political psychology, comparative public opinion research, and quantitative methodology to examine political attitudes, inequalities, and intergroup behavior.

He is currently working on two projects. The first project is a cross-national analysis of the rise of authoritarianism in the different continents. The project examines attitudes, values, and social cleavages underpinning the support to right-wing populism using cross-national survey data. The second project examines race-formation processes, group boundaries, and political attitudes and behavior in Brazil, South Africa, and the United States. Methodologically, Fabrício is interested in latent variable modeling and measurement issues in comparative social research.

Fabrício received his PhD in Political Science and MSc in Statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles (2017) an his MA in Political Science and BA in Social Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He held postdoctoral research fellowships at SciencesPo Paris (2018-19) and predoctoral fellowships at UCLA (2013-15 and 2016-17). As a Lecturer in Quantitative Social Science at the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University (2020), Fabrício taught research methods and comparative racial studies in undergraduate and MSc modules, where he also co-convened the Survey Data User Group and was a member of the Research Ethics Committee. As a Teaching Fellow, he taught public opinion and voting behavior at UCLA (2016).
