Stephanus Yusuf Tri Effendi is a full-time PhD candidate at LSE. His research focuses on the contested dynamics of Indonesia’s counter-terrorism efforts between 2002 and 2018, particularly emphasising the role of military intelligence. Stephanus investigates the factors contributing to terrorist attacks in Indonesia, particularly to the performance of intelligence agencies. He also examines the complexities of cross-agency coordination, analysing how the Indonesian Armed Forces supported the Indonesian National Police in combating terrorism and how institutional boundaries and debates influenced these efforts.
