Dr Sarah Ashraf has over 10 years experience in managing and analysing sensitive material with regards to civil-military relations, insurgency, counter-insurgency, extremism, transnational jihadism and the ideological underpinnings of various forms of radicalism. She is affiliated with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) as Policy & Research Consultant. Her portfolio of research, public events and publications includes open and closed projects with governments, research and not-for-profit sectors. Sarah has a PhD in International History ('Of Military and Militancy in Pakistan: Rise of the Praetorian Military System and its relationship with Islamist Militancy), an MSc in Theory and History of International Relations with a focus on Political Islam, both from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA(Hons) in International Relations from Sussex University.
