Chrisanthi Avgerou is a Professor of Information Systems at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). In her research, she has sought to explain the socio-economic impact of information technology in different contexts. From in-depth interpretive case studies, she formed a contextual perspective of information systems and highlighted alternative rationalities and ideologies involved in the shaping of IT innovation and its diverse impact. In 1995-97 Chrisanthi served at the Council of the newly formed Association for Information Systems (AIS) as representative of the region of Europe, Middle East, and North Africa. She chaired the IFIP Technical Committee 9 on Social Implications of Information Technology from 2005 till 2010. In 1999 she received the AIS Fellow award and in 2023 she received the AIS Leo award for exceptional lifetime achievement in information systems.
Research interests: Digital innovation, digitalization and organizational change - as they apply in Greece.
