The Greek economy experienced a severe recession for a decade following the global financial crisis of 2007-2008. Numerous articles, books, and official publications have addressed the causes of the crisis and the principles for adjustment. As normality returns, it is a good time to evaluate the Greek economy's status and prospects.

There are divergent views on the way forward, with policy recommendations either emphasizing the continuation of reforms for substantial efficiency gains or advocating extensive sectoral reallocation for growth rebalancing. However, the well-informed perspectives of market participants are less prominent in the public discourse. Greece now has a unique opportunity to accelerate reforms and leverage external funds by focusing on boosting investment, productivity, and trade for long-term sustainable growth, alongside revamping policy capacity in line with best international practices. Considering the need for in depth debate on these challenges, this event will gather the Chief Economists from the four systemic banks to discuss growth options for the Greek economy drawing on their valuable knowledge of real time market dynamics and macroeconomic trends.
