Musical life at LSE flourishes with a series of outstanding lunchtime concerts which showcase an impressively international spectrum of musicians. These take place on Thursdays in term time.
For those who have rarely had the opportunity to go to concerts, these recitals are an excellent introduction to classical music, with varied programmes featuring everything from string quartets to operatic singing. With the typical performer having countless musical accolades, this lunchtime concert series brings professional-grade music to the LSE campus.
For music lovers, the Shaw Library has a wonderful atmosphere — with an outstanding Steinway piano included, thanks to the generosity of the LSE's Annual Fund — that allows its attentive audiences to hear chamber music in the sort of space the composer likely wrote the pieces.
The lunchtime concerts are free and start promptly at 1.05pm in the Shaw Library, 6th Floor, Old Building during the Autumn term and Winter term.
