Focused on financial crises, Charlie’s research is concentrated on the US capital markets during the Great Crash and Great Depression.  His thesis consists of three working papers that together offer a ‘New Money’ narrative that emphasizes not only a ‘Lost Generation’ of investors, but also a loss of confidence in the capital markets that caused a collapse in the new issues market.  

Prior to his matriculation, Charlie spent 15 years investing across the capital structure.  This includes experience in the Investment Banking Division of Merrill Lynch, along with investment roles in mezzanine finance at Gleacher Partners, private equity at One Equity Partners, and distressed debt in the Special Investments Group of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.  Most recently, Charlie was managing a portfolio of global equities at Mast-Head LLC, which he launched in 2013.

Charlie holds a BA in History and Economics from Colgate University, an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and an MSc in Economic History from LSE
