Creating integrated communities in cities of the twenty-first century
Ricky Burdett, Director at LSE Cities gave the opening keynote at this years' Barcelona Housing and Renovation Forum' (FHAR).
In person at the Sant Pau Modernist Campus, Barcelona, Ricky discussed issues around urbanisation and the different patterns across the globe, highlighting challenges in Africa and Asia. He also discussed informality and sprawl and the patterns of migration and climate refugees with a focus on the role of governance and planning in setting a city-wide social vision for integrated urban communities.
The FHAR aims to bring together professionals from the public and private sector to debate, work on, and highlight the future of the right to housing in the city, and is an initiative of the Municipal Institute of Housing and Renovation (IMHAB) of the Barcelona City Council.
