The Place to Be: How social sciences are helping to improve places in the UK

LSE Cities features as a case study in the new new ‘Place to Be’ policy report published by the Academy of Social Sciences, a national academy of academics, practioners and learned societies in social science.

The report brings together 24 case studies showcasing what university-based social scientists are doing now to make local areas, businesses and public services better, and improve social and economic outcomes. It shows the vital role that social sciences will need to play in the ‘levelling up’ agenda, and makes policy suggestions for how that could happen.

The Academy’s Campaign for Social Science demonstrates how social science improves public policy, society and all our lives. It highlights the value of applied social science research and advocates for its greater use in decision-making and in government.
