About me

Professor Chang is BP Centennial Professor at the School of Public Policy and Distinguished Professor of Economics at Rutgers University. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.

His extensively published work on international macroeconomics, monetary and exchange rate policy, and financial and currency crises, has had a significant impact on academic research as well as on policy design and practice. He has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Economics and the Journal of Development Economics, and as a member of the Economics Panel of the National Science Foundation.

Before joining the School of Public Policy in 2020 and Rutgers in 2000, Professor Chang was a Research Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He has also been an Assistant Professor at NYU and a Visiting Professor at Princeton.

Professor Chang is a native of Peru and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

While at LSE, he will advance his research on foreign exchange intervention, international reserves accumulation and management, and other so-called unconventional central bank policies, for emerging economies.
