Kathryn Davis has an MA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and took her solicitor’s final exams (LPC equivalent) at Chester Law School.  Kathryn spent 26 years (17 of them as a corporate/commercial partner) with city law firm Slaughter and May.  During her legal career she advised clients from a variety of sectors, primarily FTSE 100/250 companies, across a wide range of practice areas including public and private M&A, commercial contracts (including joint ventures), debt financing, equity and debt capital markets, regulatory enquiries, insolvency situations and general corporate advice.  Alongside her fee earning work, Kathryn was extensively involved in trainee recruitment and training.  She also wrote and maintained a suite of standard and know-how documents, primarily relating to private M&A and maintenance of capital.

Since retiring from private practice, Kathryn has pursued a range of other interests.  She is currently an external member of the University of Oxford’s Audit and Scrutiny Committee and was recently appointed as an independent non-executive director of Legal & General Affordable Homes, a for-profit provider of affordable housing.  She is also a non-executive director and trustee, Deputy Chair of Council and Chair of the Estates Committee at the Girls’ Day School Trust, a large educational charity and the UK’s leading family of 25 independent girls’ schools, including two academies.  Kathryn also recruits and mentors trainee solicitors on a consultancy basis for innovative legal training provider, Accutrainee.

In September 2023 Kathryn was appointed as a Visiting Senior Fellow in Practice at LSE Law School, where she has been delivering commercial awareness workshops for LLB and LLM students since 2018.
